Gas Tax Holiday??? Let me see, now...
- Ok, we give everyone in the country a break on gas taxes...
- The break comes to maybe $50-75 over three months if you drive an SUV or have a LONG commute.
- The break comes to maybe $5-15 if your commute is short of if you're driving a hybrid.
- The money comes directly out of the flow of cash into the Highway Trust Fund.
- That means that highway infrastructure and building would be short all of those dollars this year.
- If we still need the infrastructure and repairs next year, how can we catch up the fund to where it would have been next summer?
- Double the gas tax next summer?
If that doesn't define some politicians to be utter imbeciles, nothing does.
And worse, so many Americans support the idea.
