Eileen Adler, 78, died September 11, 2010 at Blue Ridge Health Care Center of complications related to Alzheimer's Disease Eileen was born in Buffalo, NY, graduated from the University of Buffalo and received her MSW from Hunter University. She worked alternately as a social worker and a secretary for many years. She was active in Civil Rights in the 1960s, being present in Washington for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's "I have a dream" speech, and was active in the Peace movement in the 1970s. She was devoted to her three children and later to her three grandchildren. She joined the Unitarian Church in Massachusetts in the 1980s and in her later years was a member of the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh, NC. Eileen leaves bereaved her husband of 52 years, Peter Adler of Raleigh; her daughter, Alanna Conder, son-in-law, Bob Conder; and grandchildren, Lauren and Bobby Conder of Raleigh; also daughter, Corinne Adler; son-in-law, Ed Wachter; and granddaughter, Mitzi Adler-Wachter of Seattle; also son, Paul Adler and Melanie Tatara of Seattle; brother, John Moran of Raleigh; and sister-in-law, Barbara Moran of Inverness, FL. She will be missed for her sweetness, caring, and humor by many who loved her and who cared for her in her final illness. |
